The Real Ghostbusters: bringing ghost-busting to Saturday mornings

Aired from 1986 to 1991, The Real Ghostbusters was an animated spin-off of the blockbuster film Ghostbusters (1984). Produced by Columbia Pictures Television and DiC Entertainment, it featured the same iconic team — Venkman, Ray, Egon, and Winston — plus Slimer as their mischievous mascot.

The “Real” in the title came from the fact that another unrelated cartoon called Ghostbusters (by Filmation) already existed, so this show claimed to be the true continuation of the movie.

Highlights included:
