Fisher-Price Toys
Made in Hong Kong
Before Star Wars took the toy world by storm, Fisher-Price had already launched a bold line of action figures: Adventure People, first released in 1975. Designed for young explorers, this 3.75-inch line was Fisher-Price’s very first true action figure series.
Unlike the superheroes or futuristic soldiers of the era, Adventure People focused on real-life heroes: divers, mountain climbers, paramedics, firefighters, pilots, and astronauts. These figures encouraged storytelling rooted in exploration, rescue missions, and discovery rather than fantasy combat.
The line also stood out thanks to its wide range of vehicles and playsets: motorcycles, kayaks, helicopters, 4x4s, submarines, and even space stations. Sturdy and simple, they embodied the durability and play value that defined Fisher-Price toys, perfect for both indoor and outdoor adventures.
Adventure People hold a special place in toy history as they directly inspired Kenner’s 1978 Star Wars figures. Their scale, articulation, and overall design served as the blueprint for one of the most iconic toy lines of all time.
Produced until the mid-1980s, Adventure People remain a beloved vintage classic, remembered for their realism and imaginative possibilities, and treasured by today’s collectors.
