Llane Wrynn – The Fallen King of Stormwind (Warcraft)

Within the Warcraft saga, few rulers embody both nobility and tragedy as profoundly as Llane Wrynn I, king of Stormwind. A charismatic and idealistic monarch, he represents the golden age of his people, as well as the vulnerability of the human kingdoms in the face of the Orcish Horde.

Llane first appeared in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1994). A close friend of Anduin Lothar and Medivh, he ruled Stormwind during the First War. Idealistic and trusting, he sought to balance diplomacy and defense, yet fell victim to the spreading corruption threatening Azeroth.

His fate turned grim when the warlock Gul’dan manipulated the Horde and used the half-orc Garona Halforcen—under mind control—to assassinate him. Llane’s death signaled the fall of Stormwind, forcing his people into exile and paving the way for the formation of the Alliance under Lothar’s command.

Forever remembered as a symbol of honor betrayed, King Llane remains an iconic figure in Warcraft lore. In World of Warcraft and related novels, his legacy lives on as that of a just and courageous ruler undone by the darkness consuming Azeroth.
