In the late 90s and early 2000s, a strange little obsession took over schoolyards: Gogo’s Crazy Bones. These tiny, hard plastic figures — each with a unique, wacky design — were collectible, colorful, and just weird enough to be irresistible.
Based on the Spanish game Huesos (“bones”), Gogo’s weren’t just for display. You could play with them, flicking or bouncing them to knock over your opponent’s pieces. It was marbles meets bowling meets chaos.
Why kids loved them:
Collecting: hundreds of designs, including rare glow-in-the-dark, metallic, or transparent versions.
Playing: endless rule variations and tricks.
Trading: the true currency of the playground.
The craze spawned multiple series, special editions, and clever marketing with blind bags and collectors’ guides.
Today, Gogo’s are a retro collectible, a pocket-sized hit of nostalgia, and proof that sometimes, the smallest toys make the biggest memories.
