In 1986, at the height of his action star fame, Chuck Norris teamed up with Ruby-Spears Productions to become… an animated superhero. The result: Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos, a 5-episode mini-series packed with over-the-top action.
The premise: Chuck leads an elite fighting team — the Karate Kommandos — including Pepper (mechanics expert), Reed (computer whiz), Kimo (ninja master), and Too Much (mischievous kid sidekick). Together, they battle the evil Claw and his henchman Super Ninja in high-octane adventures full of insane stunts, wild gadgets, and wonderfully over-the-top villains.
Following the 80s Saturday morning formula, each episode ended with a live-action moral lesson from Chuck himself. And of course, Kenner produced a toyline featuring the characters and their vehicles.
Short-lived but unforgettable, Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos is pure 80s cartoon energy — proof that in that era, anyone with a good spin kick could be a hero.
