Premiering in 1987, Bionic Six followed an ordinary American family… with an extraordinary twist: after a freak accident, each member received bionic implants granting them superhuman abilities. Led by Jack Bennett, aka Bionic-1, they battled the evil Doctor Scarab and his henchmen in high-tech, action-packed adventures mixed with warm family moments.
Each family member had a unique specialty:
Bionic-1: strength, endurance, bionic vision.
Mother-1: enhanced telepathy and empathy.
Sport-1: agility and athletic precision.
IQ: intelligence paired with strength.
Rock-1: supersonic speed.
Bunji: martial arts mastery.
The show stood out thanks to high-quality animation by TMS (Tokyo Movie Shinsha) and a catchy theme song that’s stuck in fans’ heads for decades.
The LJN toyline featured articulated figures with translucent limbs revealing “bionic circuits,” alongside large vehicles like the Bionic Six Headquarters and Bionic Cruiser. Today, they’re prized collectibles, especially complete with accessories.
With its mix of sci-fi action, humor, and family values, Bionic Six perfectly captures the colorful spirit of the 80s.
