The Corps! – Lanard’s answer to G.I. Joe (since 1986)
Released in 1986 by American company Lanard Toys, The Corps! carved a place in action figure history as a lower-cost alternative to Hasbro’s G.I. Joe. Built in the 3.75-inch scale, the figures mirrored the articulated style popularized by Hasbro, but belonged to their own faction: the International Security Force. Each soldier was given a unique identity through a file card, detailing their name, specialty, and military background.
The lineup featured a wide range of roles—explosives experts, jungle specialists, urban commandos, pilots—allowing kids to craft stories as rich as those of G.I. Joe, but within a parallel universe.
While not as detailed as Hasbro’s figures, The Corps! became a beloved line throughout the 80s and 90s, with characters like Tony Tanner, Whipsaw, and Barrage standing out. Today, these figures remain vintage gems that captivate nostalgic collectors.
