Originally introduced in 1988 as a swamp ranger armed with a machete and a no-nonsense attitude, Muskrat quickly became one of the more memorable G.I. Joe characters. By 1993, Hasbro reinvented him for the colorful Ninja Force sub-line, releasing the Muskrat v3 figure.
This version looked completely different from the original. Instead of camouflage gear, Muskrat wore a bright blue uniform with bold red and yellow accents, perfectly capturing the loud aesthetic of early 90s toys. Like other Ninja Force figures, he featured a special spring-action karate move, allowing for dynamic martial arts poses and play.
While still tied to his swamp fighter roots, this incarnation of Muskrat blended wilderness survival with martial arts flair, making him a unique hybrid character in the G.I. Joe universe. He embodied Hasbro’s early 90s push for more action features and eye-catching designs, appealing to a new generation of fans.
First appearing in 1993, Muskrat v3 is now remembered as part of the iconic Ninja Force team, a quirky and collectible chapter in G.I. Joe history that perfectly illustrates the brand’s evolution during the 90s.
