Encanto: Disney’s magical journey into Colombia

Released in 2021, Encanto is Disney’s 60th animated feature. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush (Zootopia), it tells the story of the Madrigal family, blessed with magical gifts — from super strength to shapeshifting and weather control. Everyone has a gift… except Mirabel, the quirky yet determined heroine.

When the family’s magic, embodied in their living house La Casita, begins to fade, Mirabel is the only one who can uncover the truth and save her family.

Encanto dazzles with vibrant Colombian culture, detailed animation, and a hit soundtrack by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Songs like “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” became worldwide sensations, topping charts and sparking endless memes.
