A Troll doll (Danish: Gjøltrold) is a type of plastic doll with combed hair representing a troll, also known as a Dam doll after their Danish creator Thomas Dam. The inspiration came from the trolls of Scandinavian folklore.

The dolls were created in the late 1950s and introduced in 1959, before becoming one of the hottest toys in the USA in the early 1960s. They briefly became popular again between the 1970s and 1990s, and were copied by several manufacturers under different names. In the 1990s, several video games and a video show were created based on the troll dolls.

In 2003, the Dam company re-established American copyright on the trolls, putting an end to unlicensed production. In 2005, Dam licensed the brand to DIC Entertainment, who attempted to modernize the brand by creating an animated series under the name Trollz, but it lasted only one season.

In 2013, the brand was acquired by DreamWorks Animation, which released a feature-length animated film called Trolls in 2016, a sequel in 2020, and another sequel in 2023.
