Created by Peter David and Larry Stroman, Strong Guy (real name Guido Carosella) debuted in New Mutants #29 (1991) before becoming a standout member of X-Factor.
His mutant ability allows him to absorb kinetic energy and convert it into physical strength. But the side effect left him with a grotesquely disproportionate body — massive upper torso and arms, tiny legs — a design that defines both his powers and his struggles.
Within X-Factor, Strong Guy served as both the muscle and the comic relief, constantly cracking jokes and hiding his pain behind sarcasm. Beneath the humor lies a character wracked by physical suffering and emotional isolation, making him far more layered than he first appears.
With his signature sunglasses and exaggerated frame, he became an unmistakable figure of 90s Marvel comics, standing alongside Havok, Polaris, Multiple Man, and Wolfsbane.
Strong Guy may never have reached the fame of Wolverine or Cyclops, but he remains a cult fan-favorite, embodying both the absurdity and the heart of the X-Men universe.
