Enchantress (1964): The Asgardian Sorceress of the Marvel Universe

Enchantress, known as Amora, first appeared in October 1964 in Journey into Mystery #103, published by Marvel Comics and created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Introduced as part of Thor’s expanding mythological world, she became one of the defining magical antagonists in Marvel Comics.

As an Asgardian sorceress, Enchantress wields powerful illusion magic, mind control, and interdimensional travel. Frequently allied with Skurge the Executioner, she confronts Thor and the Avengers in numerous classic storylines.

Throughout 1960s and 1970s Marvel comics, Enchantress embodies ambition, seduction, and strategic manipulation. Her fixation on Thor and her desire for power drive much of her character arc. Unlike purely destructive villains, she operates through influence, charm, and calculated alliances.

Though not yet a central figure in the MCU, Enchantress has appeared in animated adaptations and remains a staple in Marvel video games, action figures, and Asgard-themed collectibles.
